Cars,
homes and boats that could've been brand new or at least in well-kept
condition were rendered unusable and made into scrap metal overnight.
The
sheer force of the tsunami and the tonnage of water that swept through
literally pounded everything that it came in contact with. Concrete and
metal were crushed. A testament to nature and its laws of survival were
the offspring of trees and other fauna that had undoubtedly survived
past natural disasters and survived better than many man-made
structures. However, the rainy season is being awaited to flush out the
salt from the ocean that has invaded the soil and fresh water sources.
There are areas where wells have been pumped dry six or seven times and
are still filling salty. |
